Biography

Ruby Lin Xin-ru is a celebrated Taiwanese actress, television and film producer, and singer who has become one of the most influential figures in Asian entertainment. Born on January 27, 1976, in Wugu, New Taipei City, Taiwan, she adopted the English name "Ruby" inspired by her mother's love of the jewel. Her breakthrough came with her iconic portrayal of Xia Ziwei in the megahit television series My Fair Princess (1998-1999), which earned her pan-Asian fame and led American entertainment critic Derek Elley to dub her "Taiwan's TV Drama Queen." Beyond her successful acting career spanning dozens of television dramas since 1995, Ruby Lin has established herself as a prominent producer in the industry. She founded her own studio in 2009 and made her production debut with The Glamorous Imperial Concubine in 2011, which earned her the Best Producer award at the 2012 TV Drama Awards Made in China. Her first Taiwanese drama production, The Way We Were (2014), garnered critical acclaim with three wins out of seven nominations at the 50th Golden Bell Awards, including Best Television Series. As a recording artist, Ruby Lin has released six albums, beginning with Heartbeat in 1999, and has contributed theme songs to several of her television projects. In her personal life, she married fellow actor Wallace Huo on July 31, 2016, marking a celebrated union between two prominent stars of Chinese-language entertainment.
